Custom Fit Knee™ Replacement
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the OtisKnee™ process take?
The whole process takes only a few weeks. The MRI of your knee is performed 2 to 3 weeks prior to your surgery. Once the computerized pre-operative planning is complete, custom cutting guides are manufactured and shipped to your surgeon within 2 to 3 days.
Is total knee replacement with OtisKnee™ covered by insurance?
Custom Fit Knee™ replacement is covered just like any other total knee replacement procedure. Accepted insurance plans will vary by physician and healthcare organization. Speak to your physician about your particular coverage.
Where can I find a doctor who offers Custom Fit Knee™
replacement with OtisKnee™?
Can this technology be used in uni-compartmental knee surgery?
How about other, non-knee joint replacements?
The OtisKnee™ technology is currently only available for total knee replacement, although expanded applications are in development.
OtisKnee™ and Custom Fit Knee™ replacement are not prosthetic devices that are implanted in the knee and replace part of the knee joint when knee replacement surgery is performed. OtisKnee™ is a custom cutting guide used during the surgery to assist the surgeon in making very accurate bone cuts that are specific to the individual patient. It does not remain in the body after surgery. Custom Fit Knee™ replacement is a technique or procedure that allows the surgeon, before surgery, to match the size and placement of the implant to the patient's normal (non-diseased) anatomy. The surgery can then be done accurately and quickly, with less intra-operative decision-making required on the part of the surgeon.
